Shymie Bennett – Allergy Testing

An allergy is a hypersensitivity to a certain kind, or variety of different substances – allergens. This hypersensitivity may cause drastic reactions, such as the feeling of having been poisoned, or anaphylactic shock, requiring emergency treatment, and the administration of adrenaline.

Some people can have an immediate reaction to peanuts (even the smell can affect some) small amounts of egg, strawberries, rhubarb, and other seemingly insignificant substances. For other people merely touching daffodils, and other flowers can cause skin eruptions, hives (nettle rash) and other skin disorders.

It is also known that some people are allergic to certain animal proteins and fats, and the hair of certain animals, especially cats, dogs and horses. Others can become violently ill when eating seafood, such as crab, lobster, or any other shellfish.

Food Intolerances

The manifestations of food intolerance are legion and can mimic a whole range of different clinical conditions. Also when someone is under emotional or psychological stress, they are more likely to develop a food intolerance. A person who is under stress may become inward-looking, and susceptible to even the slightest of symptoms.

They can also play a part in the cause of recognised and diagnosable clinical conditions such as :-

  • Mouth ulcers
  • Eczema and skin rashes
  • Depression
  • Arthritis and Rheumatism
  • Weight problems
  • Peptic ulcers and gastritis
  • Migraine and other headaches
  • Inflammation (Arthritis etc)
  • Crohns disease, ulcerated colitis
  • Sinusitis
  • Urticaria
  • Fluid retention
  • Gall Bladder problems
  • Facial flushing
  • Asthma
  • Rhinitus
  • Pre-menstrual symptoms
  • Recurrant infections (tonsillitis)
  • I.B.S., bloating
  • Constipation, Diarrhoea
  • Fatigue, excessive sleepiness
  • Catarrh + excess mucous
  • Glue Ear
  • Nausea
  • Stomach Cramps
  • Insomnia
  • Childhood hyperactivity
  • Learning disabilities

If you experience three or more of the above symptoms, there is a possibility that you are suffering from a food intolerance. After a test to show what food, drinks, or other substances that you are intolerant to, it is advised that you eliminate the culprit matters for 12 weeks, and submit to a re-test, whereupon the majority of foods etc, can be re-introduced.
